Abstract

‘In a Cloud, in a Wall, in a Chair’ at the Art Institute of Chicago offers a new perspective on Mexico’s place in modernism. Curated by Zoë Ryan, the exhibition showcases an international group of creatives, including Ruth Asawa, Cynthia Sargent, Anni Albers, Lola Álvarez Bravo and Sheila Hicks to stage a narrative of Mexican design based on their relationship to the linchpin Cuban designer, Clara Porset.
