Abstract

This film review analyses Dea Kulumbegashvili's film Beginning (2020). Focusing on cinematic techniques, sound and mise-en-scène, the review attempts to interpret the film and highlight the major ideas presented. Further, paying particular attention to the heroine, Yana, the review seeks to explore her complex character and unpack her motivations.
