About the journal
Aims and scope
We publish one issue each year and that issue includes literary criticism, literary theory, book reviews, and creative writing that responds to our chosen theme. Past themes have included ‘Ambience’, ‘Unfeeling’ and ‘Nostalgia’. These themes are deliberately broad so they are open to interpretation, but they are also chosen to address contemporary, emergent and key issues in literary studies and the arts and humanities more generally.
We encourage graduate students and researchers from across the globe to respond to these calls for submissions. These calls for submissions are advertised on Twitter, via mailing lists, www.cfplist.com, and https://call-for-papers.sas.upenn.edu between October and December every year.
The UCL Open Access Student Journals programme works with subject specific indexers to deposit published articles in relevant repositories and search databases. Articles published in Moveable Type are indexed in the following:
Open access policy
All articles published in Moveable Type are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC-BY) 4.0 international licence agreement (read the licence here) and published open access, making them immediately and freely available to read and download. The CC-BY licence agreement allows authors to retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and make some uses of the work.
Further information regarding this can be found at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 and licensing terms and conditions can be found in the UCL Open Access Student Journals Editorial Policy.
Moveable Type operates double blind peer review, where both the reviewers and authors are anonymised during review. Authors should submit an anonymous version of the manuscript, stripped of all identifying references to the author(s) for peer review.
Further information regarding peer review can be found on the editorial policy pages.
Article publication charges (APC)
UCL Open Access Student Journals do not levy an Article-Processing Charge (APC) for submission or publication in Moveable Type. Contributors to Moveable Type will not be required to make an APC payment for submission or publication of their article.
