Abstract

Sutapa Biswas’s recent film, Lumen (2021), poetically recounts the departure of the artist's family from India during the mid 1960s and the impact their movement to the United Kingdom had upon Biswas herself. Through tracking the film’s emotive and contextually rich movements across space and time, this review explores how Biswas’ Lumen centres the experiences of women from the South Asian diaspora.
