      In 2009, Knižní klub awarded their prize for best manuscript to an unknown author, Lan Pham Thi, for her book about Czech-Vietnamese interethnic relations. In the months following the prize's announcement, suspicions about Lan Pham Thi's identity were aroused, and, in December 2009, it was revealed that the manuscript had been written and submitted by a white Czech, Jan Cempírek. This article uses discourse analysis to discuss to what extent Lan Pham Thi's book should be considered a legitimate part of Vietnamese Czech literature.
