We encourage any and all postgraduate students,including those on taught programmes, to submit their work to the journal for consideration. 

We welcome all submissions on the theme of: 

‘Contested Realities: Paradigm Shifts in the SSEES Region’.

This issue’s theme is not intended to be restrictive, but rather to stimulate engagement. We encourage you to be creative in your interpretation of it.  

Article submission deadline: 1 February 2026. 

Review submission deadline: 1 March 2026.

Guidelines

All submissions must adhere to MHRA style guidelines.

 Journal Articles: 6,000-8,000 words. Must include an abstract (200 words maximum). 

 Disciplines could include, but are not limited to:

§  Critical Area Studies

§  Security Studies

§  Anthropology

§  Literature & Culture

§  Economics

 

Book Reviews: 800 words maximum.

We also welcome submissions of original poetry/prose/visual art.

SLOVO Brief: 

We are pleased to share that, this year, SLOVO will be publishing short-form, supplementary material on our Substack, SLOVO Brief We encourage anyone who would like to be featured to submit their work. This should be shorter-form content, c.500-1,000 words, relevant to any aspect of the SSEES region. We are eager to feature comment, analysis and interviews, as well as original works of poetry, prose and visual art, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
